About Hawaiʻi's human Beatbox Academy

 About Hawaii's Human Beatbox Academy

Hawaiʻi's Human Beatbox Academy was founded by Jason Tom to provide and offer Hawaiʻi beatbox workshops in the 50th State known for the Aloha Spirit in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, USA. The Human Beatbox Academy is an educational extension to fill in the gap where needed when approached and hired by teachers and schools to empower, encourage and edify our children, youth, young adults, young professionals, and communities through these Hawaiʻi beatbox workshops as an outlet for creative expression with an aim to develop and build self-esteem and confidence through these interrelationship skills. In 2006, the Human Beatbox Academy facilitated its first one-off Hawaiʻi beatbox workshop at Central Middle School and in 2008, it's second one-off workshop at Word of Life Academy. In 2010, DJ Kutmaster Spaz of Did-N-Dat invited Jason Tom to facilitate six back-to-back workshops at Waiau Elementary School before he offered weekly workshops at the Diverse Art Center in Kakaako. On July 2011, the Human Beatbox Academy opened its doors with various business partners under the ArtSmith umbrella at one of the Chinatown Artists Lofts within the Arts District of Downtown Honolulu. The first month of beatboxing classes in its Chinatown venue consisted of students ranging from ages 4-13 years old, covering foundation in mouth drumming, vocal scratches and vocal bassline techniques, scat singing, history, and the background of beatboxing.
